Toney D is one of the initiator of todays Dance music scene. 1980 he opened the first DJ shop “Fantasy”. 1984 he produced his first dance production called “Jules - I Want To...” on Blanco Y Negro. Became number 1 in spain. 1986 Toney D produced the second dance production with the singer „Shy Rose - I Cry For You”. This track became number 1 in the dance scene nearly allover the world, mostly in the USA, UK, Mexico and Japan. In Japan it was no 1 in the pop charts in front of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Pet Shop Boys. Sold records 5 Millions. Till today all productions of Toney D were streamed 100'000'000 times on Spotify, Apple Music, Napster, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, VK, Tik Tok and on many other platforms. 1989 Toney D organized the first rave in switzerland. At that time they called „The Warehouse-Party“. It was the first party with live broadcasting on „Couleur3“, at that time the most trendy Radio Show in Switzerland. Line Up: Adeva, Joice Simms, Keith Thompson, Arnold Jarvis, Norman Jay. 1991 Toney D produced the us singer „Arnold Jarvis - I Want To Have Your Love“. The song is on the cult compilation „The Garage Sound Vol. 3“ by Joey Negro on Republic/Rumour Records. Later Arnold Jarvis was produced by other world famous DJ-Producers like David Morales, Frankie Knuckles and Masters At Work to mention a few. Before Toney D became a DJ, he started 1975 his musical career as Keyboard player in a Funky Jazz Band, touring successfully for 5 years around the world. During this time Toney D made connection with one of the most important musician of the decade, „Bill Conti“, who would later win an Oscar for Best Soundtrack for „Rocky 1“. The band's drummer Steve Ferrone now plays for „Quincy Jones“ (producer of Ella Fitzgerald, composed the theme tune for „Starsky and Hutch“ and produced the albums Off The Wall & Thriller by „Michael Jackson“, the best selling album of all times. Toney D left the band to set up his own group called „Toast“. Kelvin Bullen the guitar player of the band later joined „Zucchero“ (Baila Morena) and played guitar on the album of „Richie Havens“ (Going Back To My Roots) that was produced by Pino Daniele. By the 90's Toney D was a well respected producer and DJ, starting the label „Solid Pleasure Continental“ with „Dieter Meier“ from the group „Yello“, supporting new DJ's in the Electro scene. 1996 Toney D signed a label deal with Sony Music releasing tracks of the new Rave generation. In the meantime the productions of Toney D, like Shy Rose or Jules have reached "cult status", are scheduled "rarities" and are sold on Platforms like ebay.com or musicstack.com between 20$ and 500$. 2012 Toney D started to produce his daughter Carol Fernandez aka Carol Kenzo. Reaching considerable success with Morenita and You Will Never Know. 2020 Toney D was asked by the group Louis Vuitton to license one of his masterpiece Toney D & The Love Trip Orchestra - You Are my Desire for the Louis Vuitton stores. 2023 Toney D is working on remixes of Shy Rose - I Cry For You.
