In 1968 Okeji and Adio secretly absconded from Fela and went to sign up to the army to then later form a new band. Assigned to the 6th Infantry Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Okeji's new band was outfitted in smart blue jackets emblazoned with the number "6", inspiring their popular identification as "The Blues" but Okeji preferred the name Shango. Okeji and Adio stayed with the army until the end of the seventies and Okeji released a few more records, changing his name to Segun Okeji, the name of his group to the Afro Super-Feelings, and his primary instrument from bass to saoxophone.
