Swedish national fiddler, born Wååg, 25 July 1920, died 8 January 2015 in Horndal. She grew up in Lenninge outside Bollnäs. She married the Dala fiddler and farmer Folke Östlund and has lived in Rossberga, southern Dalarna, since 1945. Nelly Östlund was a tradition bearer of both Hälsinge and Dala songs and was awarded, among other things, the Zorn medal in both silver (1950) and gold (1991). She was then the first woman to receive the gold medal for violin playing. She received the Avesta municipality's award "Årets Fridolin" in 1999, the Dalarna County Council's culture prize and the 2004 Spel-Stina medal.
