Jacques Goermans (ca. 1740 — 8 April 1789, Paris, France), also Germain, was a French maker of harpsichords, pianos, and harps, active in Paris between 1766 and 1789. Goermans family had Flemish origins, and his father, Joannes Goermans (1703—1777), was born in Geldern, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, establishing himself as a harpsichord maker in Paris in 1730 — and adopted a francophonic last name, "Germain." Other name variations: Jacques, Jacob, Jacobus Goermans In 1766, Jacques Germain became a master at his family's workshop at rue des Fossés St-Germain-des-Prés, primarily assisted by a long-time employee and his brother-in-law, Jean Liborius Hermès. Even though Goermans got married in 1787, it appears Jacques didn't have children. After his early death, Hermès took over the business.
