In a small village close to Aachen in the mid-90s, Dex Dexter found his addiction to electronic dance music far away from big city clublife. Magazines like Spex or Frontpage, a weekly radio-show on BFBS1 and his side job at a local record store have been the most essential influences in these days. But in the end it was Music-Television, who sparked his curiosity to this „DJ-thing“ and what it is all about, broadcasting one of the big Mayday-Raves including close-ups of fingers, spinning records and turning knobs. This was the kick off for a still growing vinyl collection and nearly 20 years of musical adventures - so far. With the beginning of Dex‘ ‚Frankfurter Phase‘ in 2001 his involvement with techno and its different styles and sub-genres was pushed forward by the engagement as co-booker and resident DJ at legendary L.O.F.T.-House and the special flair of a vibrant metropolis. During the next years, playing at well-known clubs like 190EAST, MONZA or U60311 to name a few, Dex developed his very own and self-confident timbre of Techno and House-Music in an underground state of mind. While acid basslines and strings, percussions and chords are the backbone of his individual acoustic pattern, Dex’ capacity for tonal-empathy, musical communication talent and extensive range of artistic experience represent the the beating heart of his work as both: DJ and producer. His first EP „Mooncloud“ was released in 2010 on Imperanza Rec., shortly after he relocated back to Aachen. At the same time a new club event called Transition saw the light of day, which should become the major event for underground Techno in Aachen and Dex’ musical homeland to this day. Within this framework Dex remains true to his antithesis of an one-dimensional conception of sound, making Basement Disco Body Music.
