Spanish classical, jazz and session percussionist and composer from Madrid. Has performed in concert with the groups Koan, Círculo de Madrid, Noco Music from Strasbourg, Grupo K-104 and London Wind, and also with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Lisbon Gulbenkian Orchestra and Amsterdam Concertgebown, among others, percussionist of the RTVE (Spanish State radio and television) Symphony Orchestra from 1987 to 1988, and has made recordings for the French State radio and television company at the Odeon Theatre in Paris, at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, and at the Píccolo Theatre in Milan. Among these, a special mention must be made of his recordings with Noco Music from Strasbourg and, more recently, with the Jazz Camera Trio. Armando Lorente was a founder member of Percunits, and he has shared the stage with internationally famous artists like Glen Velez, Peter Erskine, Alex Acuña, Julio Barreto, Keido Abe, Jorge Pardo, Carlos Benabent, Horacio Icasto and Pedro Iturralde. He has taught at the Palma de Mallorca Conservatory of Music and Música Creativa in Madrid, as well as being a guest teacher at the J.O.N.D.E (1999). Similarly, he has given summer courses in Xixona (1986-1992), Santanyí (1991-1993), Javea (1993), at Madrid’s Autónoma University (1996-1997) and Shenyang and Beijing in China (1999). Armando Lorente has composed music for films, chamber music and work for percussion instruments, published by Alfonce Productions in France. Since 1999, Lorente has been the kettledrum soloist of the Balearic Symphony Orchestra, also teaching at the Balearic Conservatory of Music and acting as the Artistic Director of the association Factoria del Ritme.
