Canadian-born U..S songwriter of the 1920s, often associated with Fred Rose & Monte Wilhite. Also credited as "Charlie Harrison". Born Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, August 24, 1883 – died Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, November 11, 1955. In 1919 Harrison moved to Chicago where, with Fred Brownhold, he formed the Ted Browne Music Co. Twenty years later the firm was sold to Plymouth Music. Harrison became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1927. He composed over 100 published songs, often in collaboration with various U.S. composers, including the popular "I'm Drifting Back to Dreamland" (Mayfair Music 1922) and "How Do You Do?" (George Simon/Shawnee Press 1924), the theme-song of the The Happiness Boys (2). Harrison's "When Summer Is Gone" (Harms 1928), written with Monte Wilhite, was recorded by the orchestras of Meyer Davis, Lou Gold, and Nat Shilkret, the pianist Lee Sims, the tenor Franklyn Baur, and others.
