Mats Barrdunge - vocals Anders Åström - bass Staffan Grenklo - synth Ras 1 was a collaboration between the philosopher Mats Barrdunge and the musicians Anders Åström and Staffan Grenklo, active between 1985-92. Ras 1 appeared on Swedish television several times, first time in 1985 with "I want power, but only over my own life" in the live debate program "Mitt i Strömmen". This took place just a few months before Ras 1's premiere on Boxing Day 1985 at Kulturhuset's Great Auditorium. The following year they participated in Måns Herngrens & Hannes Holm's "name day series" with the song "Döden är här, döden här lös", and performed the same year at the first Hultsfred Festival. The following year they played "Palmes mördare" in the TV program "Södra station", and "Freud hade fel" in the live entertainment program "Barbarella live" in 1992. Ras 1 never achieved any major public success and never received attention in the Swedish press, but got through the television appearances opportunities to perform at cultural associations and rock clubs all over Sweden between 1985-87. Mats Barrdunge had connections to the Swedish live poetry scene through the poetry magazine Den Blinde Argus, which arranged an alternative stage at the Hultsfred Festival. Barrdunge also regularly performed as a "live poet" performing his philosophical texts unaccompanied.
