Bello Lamb

New York-based Bello Lamb was formed in 1993 by Mike Segretto (vocals, bass) and Joe Scarano (guitar). With Phil Ryan on drums, the group released their eponymous debut E.P. in 1994. The lo-fi, DIY release was recorded on 4-track and found the band heavily influenced by the Pixies. Following several compilation contributions and recording their debut album to be titled "Rock and Roll" in 1996, Ryan quit the group, the album went unreleased, and Bello Lamb broke up. Segretto and Scarano reformed Bello Lamb in 1998 with Kevin Elbert on guitar and a revolving line of drummers. With the new line-up came a stylistic shift from Pixies-inspired punk to a melding of classic British rock, Velvet Underground drone, and the nebbishy new wave of XTC and Elvis Costello. After releasing a few singles in the early 2000s, the group recorded their second ill-fated album "Let's Activate" and broke up in late 2004.
