American recording engineer, mixing engineer and inventor, based in New York. May also be credited on releases as Gerald Block. He worked at Sigma Sound Studios, New York, Mediasound and Fine Recording Studios. Began career as a pre-teen at Fine Recording Studios. In 1976, was involved in the creation and building of the Sigma Sound Studios, New York, branch of the Philadelphia-based recording studio. Left the studio in 1978 to complete work on his invention, the Sontec Compudisk disk mastering computer. Returned to Sigma Sound in 1980. Then invented the industry-standard Lynx synchronizer circa 1985, and founded the company TimeLine in 1985. Left the music industry in 1995 to pursue a career in avionics, and was president and CEO of Sandel Avionics.
