Кайсын Кулиев

Kaisyn Kuliev (October 19 [November 1] 1917, Verkhniy Chegem, Tersk region, Russian Empire - June 4, 1985, Chegem, KBASSR, RSFSR, USSR) - Soviet Balkar poet and prose writer, journalist, war correspondent. People's poet of the KBASSR (1967). Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1990 - posthumously), the USSR State Prize (1974) and the Gorky State Prize of the RSFSR (1967). Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944. Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 5th, 9th, 10th and 11th convocations.
