Swedish conductor, music director and music producer from Stockholm, born February 3, 1959 in Katarina parish in Stockholm. He is educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and the University of Houston. After studying under Eric Ericson, he continued to work closely with him and his ensembles Eric Ericson's Chamber Choir and Radio Choir for many years. For many years he was choirmaster and conductor at the annual Stiklestadspelen where he led a large number of concerts. He has conducted, among others, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra and the Nordic Chamber Orchestra and has also conducted at Dalhalla Opera. His production of Daniel Catán's Rappaccini's Daughter at the Moore Opera in Houston was named Best Opera Production in 2015 by the National Opera Association. In addition to his involvement in Scandinavia and the United States, he has also conducted in Hong Kong and Guangzhou in China. In 2016, he will conduct, among other things, Brahms' Requiem in St. Petersburg with the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra as well as concerts in Hong Kong and Macau. As a music producer, Arne Almroth has, among other things, produced Eric Ericson's recordings of Bach's oratorios. He has also produced Ann Hallenberg's and Fabio Biondi's award-winning CD "Arias for Marietta Marcolini" (Naïve, Diapason d´Or 2012) and won a gold record for Håkan Hagegård's "Christmas with Håkan Hagegård". Arne Almroth has also been head of the classical repertoire within the Swedish EMI Classics, orchestra director at NorrlandsOperan, principal of the cultural schools in Skellefteå and Värmdö and Artistic Director of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. He works in 2015 as head of cultural school in Sundsvall. He is the son of the flutist, pianist, conductor and composer Knut Almroth. He is the father of the opera singer Sofie Almroth.
