Tom Foley

Bluegrass guitarist and vocalist. Died January 2021 at the age of 83. Foley led The Allegheny River Boys in Pittsburgh for many years. He was also deeply involved with The Pittsburgh Press in organizing the Annual Press Old Newsboys Benefit Bluegrass Concerts, which raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He'd graduated from Washington and Lee University in Virginia, gotten his doctorate from the University of Virginia, completed residencies at the University of Kansas and at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, and now was a fellow in pediatric endocrinology at Johns Hopkins.
