The Synthpop duo SPEED was formed in 1987 in the German Democratic Republic by Markus Siewert (vocals) and Serjoscha Stüven (keyboards, electronics). They soon had considerable success with their song "Sunshine On The Rocks". In 1989, Siewert left the GDR and Heike Sittner became the new singer. SPEED eventually broke up in 1991.
