Gennady Cherkasov (February 23, 1930, Leningrad - September 18, 2002, Moscow) - Soviet conductor, pianist, teacher. In 1964-1972 he was the conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre. From 1964 to 1972 he was chief conductor of the Moscow Operetta Theatre. In 1972, he headed the Main Editorial Board of Гостелерадио СССР, serving in this position for 24 years. Since 1984 he has been Artistic Director of Moscow Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, with whom he has toured to many cities in Russia and abroad.
