Mousikes Taxiarchies (Musical Brigades) were created at the end of the 1970s, by Tzimis Panousis (Τζίμης Πανούσης / vocals, lyrics, music). The band released 2 important albums for the Greek Rock scene of the '80s: 1982's self-titled LP, and 1984's "An I Yaya Mou Iche Rouleman". The only constant members on all albums, aside from Panousis, was guitarist / keyboardist Spyros Pazios (Σπύρος Πάζιος), and drummer Vagelis Vekios (Βαγγέλης Βέκιος). They band played their first show in "Architektoniki". They performed many concerts, and in 1980 they independently released the tape Disco Tsoutsouni which contained recordings dating from before 1977. Other members of the band for this release were Άκης Δαούτης (bass), Mitsos Papanikolaou (piano) and Βαγγέλης Σβάρνας (sax). 4 songs from the cassette, were re-recorded for their eponymous debut album in 1982. The line-up for this release was Panousis / Pazios / Vekios / Svarnas, joined by Δημήτρης Δασκαλοθανάσης (bass, piano, flute) and Γιάννης Δρόλαπας (guitar). This was followed by the album Αν Η Γιαγιά Μου Είχε Ρουλεμάν in 1984, and the musicians on this were Panousis / Pazios / Vekios / Daskalothanasis, with Ελένη Καλατζοπούλου (clarinet) and Mike (sax). After releasing live album Hard Core in 1985, Panousis started going by his own name for future releases, taking only Pazios with him (who remained in his band since 2013). Two more solo albums of his were relased in the '80s: Κάγκελα Παντού in 1986 and Χημεία Kαι Τέρατα in 1987. After that he became an established stand-up comic and radio host. Vagelis Vekios passed away in 2015, and Tzimis Panousis passed away in 2018.
