Swedish choir conductor, organist, and music teacher, born 29 June 1921 in Filipstad, died 16 May 2012 in Fässberg parish, Mölndal. After studies at the Royal University of Music and in Germany, Ohlin first worked as a music consultant in Svenska Missionsförbundet. From 1953 he was a church musician, choir director and teacher in Gothenburg. In 1959 he was employed as a teacher at the then Gothenburg Conservatory of Music, from 1971 the Academy of Music in Gothenburg. He was prefect there 1979–1983. He was awarded the title of professor in 1976 and retired in 1987. Ohlin left a deep impression on Swedish choral life, not least as founder and leader of Gösta Ohlin's Vocal Ensemble. He also started Göteborgs Musikhögskolas Kammarkör. In 1974, Sveriges Körförbund published the book Kördirigering where Eric Ericson, Gösta Ohlin and Lennart Spångberg were part editors and part main authors. Ohlin has also released a number of choral arrangements. He has made a large number of recordings both for radio and TV as well as in international media.
