Rhythm 'n' blues - soul - rock singer - songwriter - producer - music journalist - poet. Born 1949-11-27 in New York City. Debuted on Atlantic Records in 1969 with Motor-Cycle, a semi-autobiograhical LP fusing urban poetry with rock, R&B, and jazz. The succes of [m164133], which she co-wrote, enabled her to move into record production. During the early 1980s she collaborated extensively with Arthur Baker and formed electro hip hop group Warp 9 with co-producer Richard Scher. As a writer/producer, Golden gained artistic control of her work, becoming a pioneering progenitor of electro and early hip hop. In 1985 she moved to Los Angeles where she started working on a semi-regular basis with Tommy Faragher. She is featured in the book Signed, Sealed And Delivered: True Life Stories Of Women In Pop (1984) and in David Toop's book Rap Attack 3: African Rap To Global Hip Hop.
