Born 6 Dec 1941, died 18 Dec 2012 Ronnie Stoots, Memphis singer, died at the age of 71 in a Memphis hospital. Mr. Stoots graduated from White Station High School in Memphis and attended Memphis College of Art. He sang with bands including the Mar-Keys and the Regents. George Klein, gave him the nickname "Angel Stoots" because he said he sang like an angel. His solo album in 1972 was called "Ashes to Ashes" and he continued performing in Memphis clubs into the early 1980's. In addition to his musical work, he designed the Stax Records logo and designed album covers for other artists. He operated Onyx Studio in the 1970's and opened the Trans-Maximus recording studio in Memphis. He owned his own graphic design company, Memphis Magic, Inc., and worked with many in the Memphis design, graphics, and music fields. Mr. Stoots was survived by his wife, Rosemary, his daughters Angela Joslyn and Brenda Thurmond, his son Kevin Lambert, and three grandchildren.
