The group formed in late 1965 from the remnants of the little-known "Tegrams", with guitarist Alan Wisdom and bassist Marty Tryon. the other founding members included frontman Bob Corff, rhythm guitarist Mark Landon, keyboardist Harry Garfield, and drummer Tom Atwater.
