Louis "King" Garcia

American jazz trumpeter, born August 25, 1905 in Juncos, PR, died April 9, 1983 in Los Angeles. Moved to the USA in early 1920s. In New York worked with Original Dixieland Jazz Band c. 1926, recorded with The Dorsey Brothers 1930-1931 and Vic Berton 1935. Played in the big bands of Richard Himber 1936, Nat Brandwyne 1937-1938 and Louis Prima 1939 and worked as a studio musician. From the late 1940s led a Latin band. Ill-health forced him to retire shortly after moving to California in 1960.
