Jimmy Mngwandi

Composer, producer and solo artist born and raised in the Vaal Triangle he moved to Johannesburg where he worked with Sipho Mabuse. Mngwandi subsequently joined band Umoja, a breakaway from Harari, later into Ymage. In the nineties he was one of the key figures in the revival of local jazz. He was a member of Bazwaana, a Johannesburg-based trio. Moving to the United States in 2013 is arguably the biggest highlight of his career.
