The Sundial

Gothic/doom/symphonic metal band from Kaliningrad, Russia. The band renamed themselves several times over the years. They were previously named as No Time To Cry (2002-2004), Sundial (2004-2008) and Sunbellum (2009). They were inactive for a relatively long period from 2009 to 2016. As of early 2016, they have been active again as The Sundial. Formed in 2002 by Ilya Lev, Sergey "Eses" and Sergey Dmitriev under name No Time To Cry. The band evolved from the band Years Of Silence existed from 1999 to 2002. Anastasia Kuznetsova joined later in 2002 as a keyboards player. Originally the band started as a gothic/doom metal band. In 2003 changed name to Sundial, in 2007 changed name to The Sundial, and in 2009 - to Sunbellum, and then went on hiatus the same year (and Anastasia Kuznetsova started her solo project Arysta, while Aleksey Smirnov, Dmitry Muratov, Alexander Shablin and Dmitriy Altukhov formed Melfrain). In 2016 reformed under the name The Sundial again by Anastasia Kuznetsova with a new lineup and changing the genre to symphonic/gothic metal. In 2021, after the release of the "Deep Blue Phoenix" album, the band officially announced that they'll abandon their metal sound and now changed the genre to progressive rock.
