Venezuelan singer and songwriter. Ricardo Portillo (b. Octuber 16, 1943, Maracaibo, Zulia State) also known as "Maracaibo's Boyfriend". Began his artisitc carrear with "Los Vegueros" and "Los Sandungueros" until he landed at Rincón Morales one of the more influential on venezuelan Gaitas Groups. At the 70's Portillo move to Guaco, a project with a new vision about the gaitas instrumetation and sound, with them Portillo wrote and sang emblematic gaitas songs as "María La Bollera" and "Veníte pa' Maracaibo" . In 1977 Portillo composed one of more famous song of his songbook "Amparito" an authentical success with Maracaibo 15, this theme has more than 20 different versions. Portillo joined to other Gaita's Projects as Universidad de La Gaita, La Nueva Generación and the famous Cardenales Del Éxito. In the Portillo's songbook we can find successfull gaitas songs as "María La Bollera", "Amparito", "Es Amor", "La Raíz de La Gaita", "La Sirena", "Al Maestro Billo", "La Ciudad más Bella", "La Gaita del Pueblo", "Mi Ranchito" y "Madre es madre", between many others.
