American jazz saxophonist (tenor) and clarinetist player, nickname "Flutes" (born June 1, 1895 in Detroit, Michigan – died 1962 in Detroit, Michigan). In 1917, he was employed in Detroit's Wayne Gardens. Around 1920, he moved to Chicago, where he played and recorded with Erskine Tate's Vendome Orchestra, Fess Williams And His Joy Boys (directed by Dave Peyton), and, in the early 1930s, with Reuben "River" Reeves & His River Boys. In 1942, he was back in Detroit, playing with Leroy Smith And His Orchestra.
