German organist (* 1951 in Munich, Germany). He studied organ with Franz Lehrndorfer as well as sacred music at the Academy for Theater and Music in Munich (Hochschule für Musik und Theater München). He continued his studies in Paris with Marie Claire Alain, later receiving a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (Academic Foundation of the German Nation). Feller won prizes for organ interpretation in various national and international competitions in Munich, Berlin and Nuremberg, was awarded the Bavarian State’s Special Prize in Music in 1979 and won the internationally renowned improvisation competition in Haarlem, Holland in 1983. In 1978, Feller was given a teaching position at the Academy for Theater and Music in Munich. He began teaching at the Regensburg Professional Academy for Catholic Sacred Music and Music Education in 1980 until his appointment as professor at the Academy for Theater and Music in Munich in 1983, where he continues to teach his own class of organ students. Harald Feller complements his active teaching work with extensive concertizing in Europe, the USA and South Korea. He has made numerous radio and CD recordings (1983: Grand Prix International du Disque Liszt) and film music (“Schlafes Bruder”). His broad spectrum of activities also includes choral conducting and composing. In addition to works for organ, orchestra and chamber music, his main compositional focus is choral music.
