John Shirley (born 10 February 1953). He is an American novelist, screenplay writer and musician. He wrote lyrics for Blue Öyster Cult and others and for his own band. The compilation of representative recordings by him, "Broken Mirror Glass, a John Shirley Anthology 1978 - 2012", was released by Black October Records. He also fronted bands such as the New York based punk-funk-rock band Obsession, and he was a founding member of the punk band Sado-Nation. He is now fronting a band in Portland, Oregon.
