Doug Harrell is a native North Carolinian who for the past 17 years has called Chapel Hill home. He attended the University ot North Carolina, where he made Phi Beta Kappa, and received a B.S. in Medicine. After four years of Medical School at the same University, he received an M. D. in 1956, then interned at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina USA. While waiting for a call from Uncle Sam, which came in Sept. of 1957, he worked briefly at the Infirmary at the University of North Carolina. During his two year tour of duty in the Air Force he was sent to The School oi Aviation Medicine at Randolph A.F.B., Texas. and then to Japan as a Flight Surgeon. Upon his return home Doug worked lor about six months at the John Umstead State Hospital at Butner. North Carolina and on July 1 of this year he began a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta.
