Canadian-American organist, pianist, and TV musical director. Born May 5, 1911 in Winnipeg, Canada. Died May 30, 1994 in Sarasota, Florida, USA. Taubman provided background music for some of the most popular quiz shows of the 1950s and early 1960s, including "Tic Tac Dough," "Dough-Re-Me." and "Concentration." He also served as the music director for "Twenty-One," the prime time quiz show. Taubman also played on the long-running soap opera, "The Edge of Night" and many people likely heard his music used for the soap opera & his un-credited role in composing the TV show's theme. It ran from 1956-1976 in a couple variations over that time period using similar elements from the initial composition. Taubman owned a lounge-night club overlooking Central Park called the Penthouse Club where he appeared nightly playing his organ and piano playing. He recorded at least four of his albums at the club in the early 1960s.
