The three MC’s grew up together in the same building in the Bronx, New York. At a local battle, the encountered Rockmaster Scott who was working with another group at the time. They eventually formed a group together and performed alongside the groups that inspired them including the Cold Crush Brothers. The first recorded song, “It’s Life (You Gotta Think Twice)” for Reality Records in 1983, but once the song started getting airplay Profile Records came calling. Not long after they recorded their two most well known songs “Request Line” and “The Roof is on Fire” both of which hit the Billboard charts in 1984.
