The Volcanoes were a great band who were around in the early to mid '80's and although they never became a 'household name', they were popular, had a large following and their music is still enjoyed today. The band performed in pubs and clubs mainly in and around London. Such venues as the 100 Club, The Marquee, Rock Garden and Gossips. They also supported The Damned and Johnny Thunders. The likes of Lemmy (Motorhead) and Nico (The Velvet Underground) could be spotted at their gigs. The band line-up was as follows: Lead vocals-Janez Dernulc aka 'Johnny Volcano'. Lead guitar-Rolph Knudsen aka 'The Qualcast Kid'. Bass guitar-James Turnbull aka 'Evil Lurch'. Drums Stuart James aka 'Sealed Unit'. The track 'Wild' was released in 1985 on a 'punk' compilation album called Hybrid Gyrations Vol 11 on the Hybrid record label. In 1983 The Volcanoes released their single 'Strangers In The Night', (yes the same song that F. Sinatra covered!) In 1986 The Volcanoes released their album 'Into The Psyche'. Roman jugg and Captain Sensible of The Damned were involved the the production of the aformentioned.
