It is in this corner of the world that she took her first steps in music at age 6, within the choir of Capesterre-Belle-Eau. The G1 Baccalaureate pocketed at the Lycée du Champy, she tries a year of AES at the University of Créteil. But the call of music is stronger, she then abandoned her studies to start music in 1982. She joined the most famous group of the West Indies, Kassav, and will collaborate with them until today. At the same time, she became a chorus-singer for equally prestigious groups such as the Maafia or even Power 8. In 1990, she made her first experiences of author and interpreter within the group Volt-Face created by Georges Decimus, precisely on the album Haute Tension with the titles "Doucine", "Son Cristal" and "Love and Caresse. ". After all her years where she has acquired a multitude of musical skills, she finally decides to try the experience solo. In 1992, she produced her first album, Pulsions, produced by Jacky Toto at Sonodisc which was a great success and which received the honors of the Africar Music Awards. In 1994, Ronald Rubinel called on her for two titles on the Ladies' Games compilation: "Confidence" and "Héritage". 1996 is a great year for Marie-José who meets Christian Lester. The latter produced his second album titled Antistress and whose hit “Zoubida” opened the doors to television and to metropolitan and European airwaves. She embarked on television as a presenter on the Canal 10 channel in 1998, but the experience did not satisfy her and she very quickly put an end to this attempt. In 2003, she proved the extent of her talent on the compilation Dis heures de zouk produced by Passi with two compositions: "One more time", but above all the hit "Ma rivale". Since 2005, she returned to the Kassav group where she is now a backing vocalist and at the same time continues her career as a solo performer with titles like "Up".
