(born 7 September 1934 in Frankfurt am Main, died 2 March 2023 in Rösrath) was a German visual artist. From the early 1960s she initiated and hosted a large number of performances in and around her studio in Cologne with, among others, John Cage, Christo (7), George Brecht and Nam June Paik, these activities later became noted as the onset of the Fluxus movement and had a large influence on contemporary cultural developments. She was married to and worked with Karlheinz Stockhausen, with whom she had 2 children, daughter Julika and Simon Stockhausen. She also had two younger daughters, one with electronic music pioneer David Johnson (4). After being part of the New York avantgarde she returned to Germany in the 1970s, where she continued to host manifold 'open house' style workshops, thereby inviting and exploring exchange between many different cultural movements.
