Toto & Harry

Toto & Harry are the protagonists of the Sat.1 reportage series "24 Stunden Toto & Harry - Die Zwei vom Polizeirevier". In the episodes, a camera team accompanies the two police officers on patrol duty in Bochum. Police Chief Superintendent Torsten "Toto" Heim (* February 24, 1963 in Hilden) and Police Chief Superintendent Thomas "Harry" Weinkauf (* June 24, 1965 in Bochum) were transferred to the Ruhr area after their training in Cologne (Toto) and Düsseldorf (Harry), respectively, and got to know each other there as partners on patrol duty. They have been on patrol in downtown Bochum since 1992. The two were discovered by television in 2001, when the TV station Sat.1 asked Thomas Wenner, Bochum's police chief, about them for the filming of the report series 24 Hours. The report was broadcast on August 27, 2001. The first episode of the series followed on January 14, 2002, in which they tackled typical problems of police patrol duty, such as disputes between neighbors, or the situation of children who had run away from home. Heim and Weinkauf were subsequently invited by Harald Schmidt, Johannes B. Kerner and Markus Lanz to appear on their shows. A complete season was filmed from October 2005 and, with the permission of the Bochum police chief, was broadcast from May 2006. Toto & Harry, NRW Day Hamm, June 27, 2009. As of 2013, the two were no longer on patrol together. Following the success of the series Die Zwei vom Polizeirevier, Toto and Harry returned to the screen in spring 2014. In the six-part Kabel 1 documentary Die Kultcops im Ausland (Cult Cops Abroad), the Bochum police officers accompanied their colleagues around the world. Destinations included Florida/USA, Brazil, Asia and Southern Europe. In 2015, a second season was broadcast, for which Toto and Harry were in Texas/USA, Alaska, Australia and Thailand, among other places. In September 2016, media reported that the duo had officially separated. Weinkauf told the WAZ that Toto and Harry "finally have nothing more to do with each other" except for their profession.They would have been "good colleagues" but "never friends in private, even if it came across that way on screen." Heim, on the other hand, told the Rheinische Post that he had remembered some things in their friendship "a little differently."[1]Heim went on comedy tour together with Horst Freckmann as "Hotte & Toto." Torsten "Toto" Heim starred in 2018 in Der Blaulicht Report, a pseudo-docu-soap format by RTL. In August 2020, Heim suffered a severe heart attack and, according to media reports, survived it only barely after several operations.He will probably not return to normal patrol duty because of this.
