Stanley Watson

Guitarist and composer. Originally from Canada, he grew up in England and travelled all over continental Europe in the 1950s in search for guitar instruction and inspiration. He studied with Andrés Segovia, attended master classes with Pablo Casals and followed Django Reinhardt around to learn jazz. Stanley Watson settled in Rochester, NY in 1966 and started a teaching and performing career. He also started a collaboration with Chuck Mangione while there. In 1976, Stanley Watson left Rochester, NY to continue his travels and died in 1978 in a car crash. b. Sep. 20, 1926 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada d. Oct. 20, 1978
