The first 25 years of his advertising career (1952-1977) were spent at Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn, where he started as a copywriter and left as its President. There, he created several of the most famous campaigns in advertising history: · "Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one." · "Us Tareyton smokers would rather fight than switch." · "If they could stay little till their Carter's wear out." · "Ring Around the Collar" (for Wisk detergent). In 1976, Jordan worked on the election campaign of President Gerald Ford. In 1978, Jordan left BBD&O to become the founder and Chairman of James Jordan Inc. In 1981, his agency merged to become Jordan, Case & McGrath. He continued to write more campaigns: · ''How do you handle a hungry man? The Manhandlers.'' · ''Delta is ready when you are." · "Quaker Oats is the right thing to do." · "The temperature never drops below Zerex." · "You're not fully clean unless you're Zestfully clean." After his retirement in 1995, he wrote a musical called "Kings Crossing," based on Mark Twain's "The Prince and the Pauper".
