Discogs (short for discographies) is a website launched in November 2000 containing a database of information about audio recordings, including commercial releases, promotional releases, and bootleg or off-label releases. Originally created as a hobby project by Kevin Lewandowski, it has grown to become one of the world's foremost database, marketplace, and community for music. The user-built database boasts a catalogue of several million releases, labels and artists, making it the most extensive service of its kind on the internet. For entries as a label please see Discogs
