In the 1990s, she formed Sheryl Cormier & Cajun Sounds with her husband Russell Cormier (2) on vocals, and son Russell Cormier, Jr. on drums. Cormier comes from a musical family. Her father, Andrew Guilbeau (1917–1990) was an accordionist, her mother, Eclishia (Quebedeaux) Guilbeau (1920–2001) played the drums, and her brother, Lory "Bozo" Guilbeau (1951–2018) was also an accordionist.
