In 1993, members of the Dresden Philharmonic founded the ensemble "Alte Musik Dresden" together with freelance musicians (or musicians from other orchestras and freelance artists), specializing in Renaissance and early Baroque music Music life of his hometown. In the 1970s, an ensemble for early music was created in the Saxon Staatskapelle Dresden, which - as a reminiscence of Heinrich Schütz, the important conductor of the former Dresden court orchestra - gave the name "Cappella Sagittariana Dresden". In September 2006, both ensembles joined symbolically, the chapel of the Dresden Residenzschloss, to the new Cappella Sagittariana Dresden.
