Swedish jazz bigband, Gotland Big Band - which until 2019 went by the name Visby Storband - has for almost 50 years been responsible for first-class musical entertainment. Today, Gotland Big Band is one of only three professional big bands in Sweden. The big band's body consists of GotlandsMusiken's own musicians, and is continuously supplemented with some of the country's most competent and sought-after freelance musicians. In this way, the band can be constantly tailored based on the conditions for each unique production. Gotland Big Band is part of a national collaboration with Vara Konserthus and Norrbottensmusiken, which aims to eventually increase gender equality in the male-dominated jazz and big band world. Together with Norrbotten Big Band and Bohuslän Big Band, they work continuously with questions about norm criticism and gender representation.
