Karwan Osman Tofiq (1968–29th of September 1991) was a Kurdish singer and musician. In 1984–1985, he completed his secondary education and applied for the Institute of Fine Arts, but was not accepted. He then turned to the world of music in 1981, starting with the violin, and then the oud. In 1988, he won first place in oud in a national festival in Iraq. He eventually took up the guitar, with which he recorded most of his songs. His first famous song was “Ahek” (Wara Lam) recorded for television in 1987, composed by محهمهدی ماملێ and written by Sirwan Hama Rashid. He was arrested on December 12, 1989, and executed on September 29, 1991, in Abu Ghraib Prison in Baghdad.
