Swedish music researcher and librarian, born October 16, 1911 in Malmö, died June 7, 1988 in Lidingö. Lindberg was employed by the music library of AB Radiotjänst between 1939 and 1961, the last 15 years as head of the library. At the same time, he studied musicology with Carl-Allan Moberg in Uppsala. In 1946 he received his phil. lic. on a thesis on a catalog of the vocal music in the large and internationally significant Düben collection. In 1961 he became head of the Swedish Radio department of archive and library, where he remained until his retirement in 1976. He was the secretary of the Association internationale des bibliothéques musicales (AIBM) almost from the start in 1951. In 1959 he was the elected as the chairman of AIBM. In 1962, together with Nils Castengren and Ingmar Bengtson, he took the initiative for a scholarly edition of Berwald's collected works. Two volumes where produced during his lifetime. In 1974 he became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In 1983 he was awarded the "Till tonkonstens främjande" by the academy.
