Maria is the main character from "The Sound Of Music", originally a Broadway musical opening in 1959, later made into a movie in 1965. In the movie, and OST recording, she was portrayed by Julie Andrews. On stage, she has been portrayed by Mary Martin, June Bronhill and Petula Clark, among others.
