Martinican musician with a powerful style and accomplished technique. Thierry Vaton revealed his passion in 1972. From the drums to the transverse flute, all the instruments suit him but it is the piano that will make his career. From 1984 to 1987, he studied at the conservatory and at the American school of modern music in Paris 5. A pianist with bouncy notes, Thierry puts his talent at the service of the most diverse styles and cultures. From 1987 to today, Thierry Vaton has participated in numerous concerts and studio recordings. All the greatest have called on his work as a Pianist, Arranger, Composer and Director, Kaoma, Angélique Kidjo, Philippe Lavil, Enzo Enzo, Miriam Makeba, Tanya Saint-Val, Tony Chasseur, Ralph Thamar, Idrissa Diop, Dédé St Prix, Edith Lefel, Zic Band, Jean-Paul Pognon, Jean-Luc Guanel, Nestor Azerot, Dany Brillant, Cunnie Williams, Jean-Philippe Marthely, Patrick Saint-Eloi, Jocelyne Beroard, Zouk Machine, Miss Dominique (2), Francky Vincent, Karl The Voice, Andy Narell and many more. In 1993, when Jean-Claude Naimro left the Kassav group for a period of one year to join Peter Gabriel, Thierry Vaton is chosen to replace him. In the early 2000s, the idea of the Mizikopéyi Big Band was born, following a discussion with Tony Chasseur leaving the studio. Tony then asks Thierry for an original idea, something they hadn't done yet. Thierry replies to him that his dream was to have a West Indian Big Band. Tony then entrusts him with his first arrangement: Flè bò kay.
