Altivo da Luz Penteado, also known as Garoto (Rio Grande, 31 December 1930 - 10 December 2020) was a Brazilian vibraphonist, pianist, composer, and conductor. In the early 1960s, he joined the famous Dick Farney Orchestra. He is also known for his collaborations with Breno Sauer and Conjunto Farroupilha, the latter having recorded some of his songs. In 1966, he recorded the LP "Garoto + Sexteto" with arrangements of his for the Farroupilha label. He conducted during many years the big-band Orquestra Porto Alegre de Espetáculos. Maestro Garoto passed away in 2020 a few days prior to completing 90 years. Other names: Altino da Luz Penteado, Maestro Garoto, Garoto Sexteto.
