Animal is a muppet drummer of unknown species. He played with The Electric Mayhem and had to be chained up in a basement cell when he wasn't playing. The band had a long term residency on the Muppet show. Although his first known TV appearance wasn't until 1975, Animal revealed he has been playing since 1971. Animal has three very different playing styles, loud, louder and deafening. He was once involved in a tense drum off with jazz legend and his personal hero, Buddy Rich. Animal has appeared in a number of movies with the rest of the cast of the Muppets. "You don't mess with Animal, he eats glass man" (Frank Oz)
