Springfield, Missouri Timmy Miano has been playing folk, punk, and novelty songs since 1999. He has played hundreds of shows, most notably he opened for Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen, performed on 2009 and 2010 at Earth Day St. Louis and was chosen via SonicBids to play Warped Tour in Idaho. His childhood as a chubby, nerdy epileptic in St. Louis set the stage for his love of punk music. He began writing songs and playing bass in punk bands in middle school. Unsatisfied by playing in friends garage's at 14, he began booking shows and playing at clubs in the city. In 1998 he moved to Springfield MO, where learned how to play bluegrass and folk. When he was mixing his first album (1999) picked up the name Angry Panda after a friend's comment about his songwriting, "you're songs are cute, like a panda. But a really, really angry panda." While he is just as unique and completely original as everybody else, his songs do contain hints of his biggest influences, like Johnny Cash, Shel Silverstein, Todd Snider, NOFX, Jonathan Coulton, and most importantly, The Dead Milkmen. Normally a solo act, Angry Panda sometimes plays as a folk-punk trio that sounds like The Violent Femmes having a shouting fight with The Mountain Goats. In 2011 Angry Panda joined up with Zero Youth Records to release his 5th full-length album, "Hoverbikes!!!". His latest album, "Nerdheart", is also on ZYR and can be heard in its entirety here, most of the tracks are on the audio player on SonicBids or can be heard at timmymiano.com. There was other stuff too, including touring a few times, running a failed record label, and booking tons of shows. Here's some of it: *Angry Panda was picked via SonicBids.com to play Van's Warped Tour during the summer of 2008. *GO Magazine chose Angry Panda as one of the 56 things they love about Springfield, MO in their 2008 Hot List.
