Ken East

Australian-born record company executive who was MD of The Gramophone Co. Ltd. from January 1967 to July 1969. In 1970 he was appointed MD of EMI (Australia) Ltd., moved to run Decca UK in 1974. East was hired by Motown that year as head of International, staying there until October 1978, at which time he returned o EMI as president of EMI's European operations, including the UK, and International outside North America and Japan. He retired in 1989. Born May 24, 1924, died November 29, 2007.
