Spekky

Spekky ( Toby Bamford ) was born & raised in Winchester, UK, his first love of music was surprisingly, Heavy Metal, with such bands as CKY etc, he then got fed up with the white noise and screaming & got into dance music at the age of 11, when his older brother Alf (Technikal) used to listen to all the classic trance & let him borrow a tape. It was then at 12 he discovered jungle + drum n bass by one of his mates leaving a cd of it round his house, it was faster paced & had more energy, he knew this was the way for him. Spekky has been producing since late 2004, but has taken the scene by storm. Being noticed from some of the biggest artists on the circuit. He Continues to whack out chest rumbling basslines, Whilst varying his style, creating sounds that stands out among the rest, yet keep changing and developing into something much more powerful each time. He picked up his talent on the wheels of steel after acquiring his first set of decks early 2006, and hasn’t looked back since. Described by his peers as a ’natural talent’, Spekky is accelerating in his ability to seamlessly blend tracks; whilst at the same time expressing a genuine passion for what he does. Charismatic and able, he is looking like a star of the future. His sound changed in late 2007 after meeting up with fellow nutcase Karn Evil. The two had the same ridiculous humour, and finished each other's sentences constantly, but had completely opposite loves of drum & bass. They decided to start making tunes together, as Karn Evil had production knowledge, but wanted to further his career. After making the first tune together, they knew this was meant to be, their sound was different to every other track that was coming out. They called themselves 'Juggernaut' and continued making tracks, but after a dispute with a record label they were working for, decided to start up their own 'Juggernaut Recordings' The first release has had a lot of hype about it & expect the same for the forthcoming releases too. Shortly after setting up Juggernaut Recordings, Spekky & Karn Evil decided to start up Juggernaut Agency, which helps DJ's get out on the scene, current DJ's on the rotor are; Juggernaut, Spekky, Karn Evil, Static, Sensa & Kronic. 2008 was a good year for him, with an EP release on Biological Beats & Single releases on Juggernaut Recordings, Motion Sensor Recordings, Source Records Limited, Useless Plastix & many more. For 2009 Toby has decided to modify his sound a lot & has gone for a more techy approach. Expect to hear a lot more of this producer. Watch this space.
