American comic, songwriter, entertainer, talent agent and club manager. Born March 28, 1920, in New York City, New York Died January 21, 2015 (age of 94). As an entertainment manager active in Las Vegas from 1946 until the late 1970s. For many years he served as the vice president and executive producer of entertainment for the Sahara hotel and casino. In addition to managing celebrities such as Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Buddy Hackett and Pearl Bailey, Irwin orchestrated the Las Vegas debut of entertainers such as The Beatles, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Bobby Darin, Brenda Lee, Bob Newhart, and Steve and Eydie Gorme. Irwin also served as executive producer of “The Tonight Show” in 1962, which was the first year of Carson’s tenure. He used hypnosis to help stars afflicted with “Vegas throat” caused by desert heat and air conditioning. He also voiced the Lou Costello character in Hanna-Barbera’s “The Abbott and Costello Cartoon Show” in the 1960s. He also served as president of Temple Beth Sholom in Las Vegas from 1965 to 1966. Irwin wrote the lyrics and Lan O'Kun the music to “That’s What God Looks Like to Me” for Frank Sinatra. Irwin wrote it as a gift to Sinatra after Sinatra’s mother died.
